MEET OUR INSTRUCTORs

Dr. Colby Helton, DAOM, L.Ac
Acupuncture Clinician

Dr. Helton is one of the few practitioners in Kentucky with Doctoral level training in Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine.  He earned his Masters and Doctorate of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA. He maintains licensure in Kentucky for Acupuncture.

Though Dr. Helton was born and raised in Louisville, he has built quite the resume of international travel.  In fact, Dr. Helton's interest in integrative medicine began after spending immense time traveling, teaching, and studying the Chinese language, culture, and medical system.  He completed his Bachelor’s from Northwestern University, earning a double major in both Religion & International Studies and a minor in German Language.  During his time at Northwestern, Dr. Helton was able to participate in two Study Abroad programs (Germany & China) and it was his experiences at the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing that inspired his desire to pursue a career in integrative medicine.  In fact, he developed such an interest in Chinese culture, that he went back for a year to teach English and broaden own education and experience.

Today, Dr. Helton enjoys applying the wealth of knowledge he's acquired over the years to helping his patients truly restore their natural state of health.  While an expert at acupuncture, he also manages the Herbal Pharmacy at AcuBalance and thoroughly enjoys creating custom herbal formulas to treat a myriad of health imbalances such as orthopedic and sports injuries, digestive problems, infertility, cancer support, and more.
