Calling all community members, leaders, and organizations! Let’s get moving during the month of September by participating in the Annual County Walk Challenge for Health and Wellness. Join us for some friendly competition as Kentucky counties compete against each other to rack up the most steps or minutes in movement over the course of September.

Individuals and teams are welcome to walk, run, bike, or swim their way to better health while having an opportunity to socialize, build relationships, increase county pride, and improve the health of the community. In fact, you can submit minutes in movement for any of your favorite physical activities!

This is an annual event created by the UofL Trager Institute Optimal Aging Clinic and Kentucky Coalition for Healthy Communities (KCHC).

*County leads are needed to collect steps for each county! Email [email protected] for more info or to sign up as a county lead.

Counties can choose to walk individually, with families, as a community, virtually, or any combination of the above! The counties will be divided into 3 groups according to size and the county with the most steps wins the challenge. The winning county receives the “Traveling Trophy" presented at the October Kentucky Coalition for Healthy Communities (KCHC) meeting.

Record your actual measured steps (via pedometer, Fitbit, or exercise app on your smart phone such as MyFitnessPal, AppleHealth, MapMyWalk, GoogleFit, etc.) or minutes in movement. We will use an equation to convert minutes in movement into steps. Submit your steps throughout the month of September or submit your totals all at once before our deadline of October 2, 2023.

 Two ways to submit steps:

1. Online: Easily log steps or minutes below. Submit daily exercise or submit your monthly total before October 2nd.

Enter your steps or time spent exercising here

2. Paper form: Download and print the Step Tracker below. Track your steps on this form and submit your TOTAL steps or minutes in movement by October 2nd to your county lead. If you do not have a county lead, you may submit TOTALS to Mona Huff by phone or email: 502-706-0098 or [email protected].
