Calling all community members, leaders, and organizations!Let’s get moving during the month of September by participating in the Annual County Walk Challenge for Health and Wellness. Join us for some friendly competition as Kentucky counties compete against each other to rack up the most steps or minutes in movement over the course of September. This is an annual event created by the UofL Trager Institute Optimal Aging Clinic and Kentucky Coalition for Healthy Communities (KCHC). How the Walking Challenge WorksGET MOVINGCounties can choose to walk individually, with families, as a community, virtually, or any combination of the above! Individuals and teams are welcome to walk, run, bike, or swim their way to better health while having an opportunity to socialize, build relationships, increase county pride, and improve the health of the community. In fact, you can submit minutes in movement for any of your favorite physical activities! The counties will be divided into three groups according to size and the county with the most steps wins the challenge. The winning county receives the Traveling Trophy presented at the Kentucky Coalition for Healthy Communities (KCHC) meeting in October. LOG STEPSRecord your actual measured steps (via pedometer, Fitbit, or exercise app on your smart phone such as MyFitnessPal, AppleHealth, MapMyWalk, GoogleFit, etc.) or minutes in movement.
